Season's Over... What To Make Of It?
By Blake Atkins

HOUSTON -- Another first round defeat and its now have been a whole decade since the Rockets have even won a playoff series. As bad as that sounds, this season wasn't a complete loss.

When Yao Ming went down, most people didn't even think Houston would make it to the post season. Not only didn't the Rockets make the playoffs, but they were in the race for the 1st seed all the way to the last week of the season. They also made history, becoming the team with the 2nd most consecutive wins with 22 in a row.

They also developed to rookies, Luis Scola and Carl Landry. With a year of regular season play and playoffs experience under there belt, they'll be more matured for next season. Aaron Brooks was in and out of the rotation all season long but he did get some experience, some coming in the first two games of the playoffs. Steve Novak, though he didn't get consistent minutes, really got his confidence up by shooting 48% from three and having a career high of 17 points.

What are the Rockets needs? Shooting and point guard help. Some names that come to mind for our shooting need are Mike Miller and Jason Kapono. Some point guards that may be available are TJ Ford and Kirk Hinrich. Houston maybe able to swing a deal for Mike Miller by giving up Bobby Jackson's expiring contract and some draft picks. Another possible deal maybe getting both, TJ Ford and Jason Kapono, but we would probably have to give up Shane Battier, some draft picks, and Bobby Jackson's expiring contract.

As for free agency, the Rockets will probably only use there MLE to sign anyone. Some possibilities might be Mickael Pietrus, Ricky Davis, and maybe a return of Bonzi Wells.
